Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ED RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Position in a General Emergency Department (ED) with combined adult and pediatric patient care.
• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, 1900-0730.
• Ratio: 1:4 nurse to patient ratio.
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required.
• Skills required: Triage, IV starts, and phlebotomy.
• Charge nurse experience preferred.
• First-time travelers accepted.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in the specialty.
• General ED combined adult/pediatric experience required.
• Prior travel experience not required.

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – preferred
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) – preferred
• MAB (Medication Administration by RN) – preferred

Testing & Competencies

• Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:

  • Minimum overall score of 80%
  • 100% score on lethal rhythms section
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (updated annually)
• Color Blind Testing (online or in-person acceptable)
• Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)

Licensure & Documentation

• Valid State RN License required prior to start.
• Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
• Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps.
• Background checks including criminal, education verification, and federal/statewide searches.
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
• Physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations.
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) documentation or titers
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
  • Varicella documentation or titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver’s license if driving is an essential job function.
• Annual completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgment.
• Completion of facility-specific modules (SITELS) prior to hire.
• E-Verify and I9 documentation required.
• Fit mask (N95) test within 9 months of start, updated annually (not required for Sterile Processing Tech).

Work Environment

• Emergency Department setting with adult and pediatric patients.
• Requires ability to work nights and holidays on a rotating basis.
• Ratio and workload consistent with acute care ED standards.
