Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Gastrointestinal (GI) Specialty

Location: Abilene, Texas

Job Description

• Position: RN with GI specialty
• Must be able to work 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts, plus on-call duties
• Assist or circulate during advanced GI procedures including:

  • ERCP
  • PEG placement
  • EUS
  • Spyglass
  • FNA/FNB
  • Capsule endoscopy
  • Bronchoscopies and EBUS
• Advanced procedure experience required
• Experience with moderate sedation and pain management preferred
• Prior travel experience preferred (not explicitly required)

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
• Other certifications may be required as applicable (e.g., NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, ENPC) depending on facility requirements

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse with advanced GI procedure experience

Compliance and Background Checks

• 7-year background check required within 1 year of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start

• State-specific checks for Texas (DADS Employability Status Check and Employee Misconduct Registry) within 30 days of start

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
• Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S) required within 12 months of start, updated annually
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • TDAP (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Rubeola (Measles) - positive titer or 2 vaccines
  • Mumps - positive titer or 2 vaccines
  • Rubella - positive titer or 2 vaccines
  • Hepatitis B - positive titer, series, or declination
  • Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), with agency religious or medical exemption accepted
• Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start (no pending results allowed)

Additional Requirements

• Must complete various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., vaccination info, TB and occupational exposure, confidentiality, compliance, patient-centered pledge)
• Two professional references required within 3 years of start
• Resume/application required
• Skills checklist required and must be updated annually
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam and other competency exams as applicable

Work Environment

• Facility requires adherence to advanced GI procedural protocols
• Orientation includes mandatory modules (~3-4 hours)
• Parking available for orientation and employment

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with advanced GI procedural skills looking for a travel contract in Texas. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
