Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg) - Travel/Contract
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), no block scheduling
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
Call Requirements: None
Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no holiday RTO; no RTO the day before or after a holiday; no RTO on weekends
Floating: Mandatory float facility; all clinicians must float within their scope as needed
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Specialty: Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in Med/Surg
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- NIH Stroke Certification - required for all RNs in Med/Surg and other critical care areas; must be updated annually
- Certifications Preferred:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- Locals Accepted: Yes, locals preferred (must live within 75 miles of the facility)
- Pending License: Not accepted

Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination (declination must be within 12 months)
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually (PPD not accepted after 12/15/2025)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if low titer
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if low titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination (declination within 1 year)
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/01 - 04/01)
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and color blind testing (required within 12 months of start)
Additional Notes
- Must complete facility-specific forms and rules of behavior
- Must be eligible to work in Illinois and meet state-specific registry requirements (not required for RNs)
- References and employment application required per agency standards (not a client requirement)
- Floating is mandatory to meet facility needs
