Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Description

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Call may be required
  • Role requires a Nuclear Medicine Technologist with a broad range of general nuclear medicine experience and therapy
  • Equipment used includes Siemens cameras (Symbia, Intevo SPECT/CT, Biograph MCT Flow PET/CT)
  • Responsibilities include rotating between General Nuclear Medicine (routine studies such as Bones, Gastrics, Hepatos, Renals, etc.) and PET/CT
  • Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted

Required Experience

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Nuclear Medicine Technologist)
  • Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum experience consistent with a broad range of general nuclear medicine and therapy expertise (recommend at least 2 years)

  • Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC preferred if applicable)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
  • National Tech Certification Verification (for Allied/Non-RN candidates)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card (can be completed onsite)
  • State License Verification (required within 30 days of start)
  • NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
  • Certification for First Assist RNs (if applicable)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for certain units (including Cardiac Tele, Cath Lab, ICU, ER, etc.)

Background Checks & Verifications

  • Background check within 1 year, updated annually (includes county criminal, national criminal, sex offender, FACIS III, education verification)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • HHS/OIG exclusion check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • Transcript/Diploma and Education Verification required
  • Sex Offender Search within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • Employment verification for 7 years required
  • References: Two references verified within 6 months of start (manager or supervisor preferred)
  • Employment application must explain any gaps longer than 30 days

Competency Exams & Skills Checklists

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score 80%)
  • Color Blind Testing (passing score 80%)
  • Unit Specific Competency Exams (annual renewal required)
  • Core Parts I, II, III (annual renewal required)
  • Conscious Sedation Competency Exam (annual renewal required)
  • RN Math Ability Competency Exam (annual renewal required)
  • Skills Checklists (annual renewal required)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually (must state good health, free from communicable diseases)
  • Fit Mask test within 1 year, updated annually (acceptable masks include Halyard Regular/small, 3M N95 models)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years, religious/medical exemptions accepted and updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, renewed annually; positive TB requires chest X-ray and annual questionnaire
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines required; booster if equivocal/negative; exemptions accepted and updated annually
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination required; must be renewed annually
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; booster if equivocal/negative; exemptions accepted and updated annually
  • Drug testing within 1 year, updated annually (specific drug panels required)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required year-round; medical/religious exemptions accepted and updated annually
  • COVID vaccination initial series required or medical/religious exemption; booster preferred but not required

Additional Notes

  • Travelers must renew all documents set to expire during the assignment prior to clearance
  • Pass/Fail EKG exam required for certain units; only two attempts allowed before cancellation
  • Facility-specific policies and agreements must be signed prior to start (e.g., confidentiality, acceptable use, electronic communications, password policy)
  • Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted for this assignment

This position is ideal for Nuclear Medicine Technologists with solid general nuclear medicine and PET/CT experience, who are comfortable working with advanced Siemens imaging equipment and meeting comprehensive credentialing and compliance requirements.
