Job Description

The Emergency Nurse provides care to patients with urgent or critical illness, emergency care needs, and non-urgent treatment seekers. Responsibilities include:

• Triage patients based on care requirements
• Ongoing assessment of patient condition
• Immediate interventions and discharge teaching
• Care for diverse populations including pre-natal, neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Ability to interact effectively according to individual intellectual and physical abilities

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Massachusetts RN License (no conditional licenses accepted)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
• CPI or MOAB certification (includes de-escalation training, hands-on component, and managing violent patients)

Required Experience

• Specialty: RN Emergency Room

Health & Safety Requirements

• Fit Test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date, updated annually
• Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30), no exemptions allowed
• TB test (skin test or blood test) within 3 months of start date, updated if break >6 months
• Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date, updated if break >6 months
• MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
• Hepatitis B vaccination strongly preferred (or proof of immunity or declination)
• Tdap vaccine preferred within last 10 years
• Positive PPD requires negative chest x-ray documentation
• Respirator Medical Clearance attestation (if fit test required)

Background & Professional Requirements

• Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start, updated if break >6 months
• Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start, updated if break >6 months
• National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
• Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
• Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city & state
• Two recent references (minimum one supervisor or above in skillset)
• Skills checklist required for submission
• Confirmation of assignment form required upon acceptance and for extensions
• Education verification through background check company (highest level achieved)
• SSN trace for past 7 years addresses and aliases

Additional Notes

• Professional photo required for onboarding (color, plain background, no filters or eyeglasses)
• No religious exemptions for fit test or flu vaccine
• Some certifications preferred from AHA but Red Cross accepted

This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Room RNs licensed in Massachusetts who meet the certification and health requirements and are available for a 10-week long-term assignment.
