Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse - ICU
  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM), no block scheduling
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Float Requirement: Mandatory float within ICU units (Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, Neuro ICU) and possibly to Medical-Surgical units as needed
  • Orientation: First week on day shift (orientation and precepting)

Experience & Certification Requirements

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in ICU
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (required for ICU RNs)

Licensure & Location

  • License: Pending licenses are NOT accepted
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, locals preferred; must live within 75 miles of the facility

Facility Highlights

  • Scrub color: Navy Blue

Additional Requirements & Compliance

  • Background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
  • Various certifications and competency exams required, including medication/pharmacology competency, color blind testing, dysrhythmia/EKG competency (preferred for ER RNs)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) required annually
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap (within 10 years or signed declination)
    • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 12 months)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • Completion of facility-specific forms and rules of behavior

Notes

  • No prior travel experience explicitly required for this position
  • Must be willing and able to float as per facility needs within ICU and possibly other units
  • No call or holiday release time off (RTO) allowed on weekends or days adjacent to holidays

This position is ideal for ICU RNs with at least 2 years of recent acute care experience seeking a travel contract in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment with a structured float requirement.
