Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Clinical Trainer RN - PACU)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide orientation training for a Nurse Residency Program in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
- Educator role covering Pre-Op, Discharge Unit, PACU, and Procedural PACU.
- Work Monday through Friday, 40 hours weekly.
- Must have a DC nursing license in hand.
- Clinical PACU experience required.
- Will have an educator partner for support.
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse with PACU clinical experience.
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years clinical experience in specialty required; 5-7 years preferred.
- Educator Experience: Minimum 2 years of educator experience in a teaching hospital setting required.
- Education: BSN required; MSN preferred.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC).
- ACLS and specialty certification preferred.
- General Skills:
- Telemetry required.
- Ventilator experience preferred.
- EMR: Cerner required.
- Prior Travel Experience: Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment.
- Immunizations: Flu vaccine required.
- May come into contact with COVID-19 patients.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including multi-state searches.
- E-Verify and I9 documentation required prior to start.
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually.
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Immunization and health documentation required:
- Flu vaccine or approved exemption.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within the last year.
- Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers.
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination.
- Varicella vaccine or positive titer.
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed).
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher).
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam with specific scoring requirements, updated annually.
- Color blindness testing (online or in-person).
- Other competency exams as required by unit.
Additional Notes
- Two positive supervisory references required, supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information.
- Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually.
- Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed before hire date.
This position is ideal for an experienced PACU RN with educator experience and prior travel contract experience, licensed in DC, who is comfortable working in a teaching hospital environment with exposure to COVID-19 patients.
