Cardiovascular Technologist Position

Location: Pikeville, Kentucky

Job Description

• Perform echocardiography and non-invasive vascular ultrasound diagnostic testing.
• Deliver direct patient care and perform all diagnostic echocardiography including Doppler, 2-D, m-mode, and stress echocardiograms. Assist with TEE imaging and EKG stress testing.
• Conduct diagnostic, non-invasive vascular ultrasound imaging and non-imaging studies such as carotid duplex, venous duplex, arterial duplex, segmental blood pressure studies, arterial Doppler waveforms, pulse volume recording, thoracic outlet testing, and photoplethysmography.
• Administer image enhancing agents as needed and start/discontinue IV access for administration. Perform bubble studies.
• Explain diagnostic procedures to patients and families using verbal, written, and demonstrative skills.
• Maintain and clean all non-disposable equipment used in echo/vascular areas.
• Process and file reports according to documentation standards for Cardiopulmonary Lab diagnostic studies. Maintain patient files and copy tapes, apply charges, and complete log sheets per department procedures.
• Organize, count, and record inventory in collaboration with cardiopulmonary diagnostic staff. Stock and maintain supplies.
• Participate in quality improvement activities with Coordinator/Director and staff.
• Function as a preceptor to orient new employees.
• Adhere to dress code, infection control, safety, personnel guidelines, and medical center policies.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and treat patients and families with respect and dignity.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Contract Length

• 12 weeks

Requirements

• Ability to operate Echocardiography and Vascular equipment.
• Familiarity with PFT, EKG, and stress testing equipment required.
• Basic computer skills including:

  • Turning a personal computer on and off.
  • Recognizing major computer parts and keyboard functions.
  • Using a mouse.
  • Opening and closing programs in Windows.
  • Understanding printer operator panels and loading paper.
