Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg, Neuro Med/Surg Unit
• Location: Nashville, TN

• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit: 3rd Floor, Neuro Med/Surg
• Number of Beds: 20
• Patient Ratios: 6:1
• Staffing: Tech support available on day and night shifts; Unit secretary available 7am-7pm
• Equipment: IV Pumps, Telemetry, Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs), Continuous Pulse Oximetry Machines, Feeding Pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanner, iMobile communication technology
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week; 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
• Floating Policy: Contract staff float first; rotation used when multiple contract staff are scheduled
• Dress Code: Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms)

Required Skills & Experience

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in Med/Surg nursing
• Required Certifications:

  • Active RN license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
• Requested Skill Set:

  • Med/Surg experience
  • Ability to prioritize care and multitask
  • IV starts
  • Basic wound care
  • Maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes

Patient Care Expectations

• Provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members
• Conduct bedside shift reports
• Build personal connections with patients and include them and their families in the plan of care
