Job Summary

• Position in an Adaptive Acuity Unit with occasional Progressive Care Unit (PCU) care at a 3:1 patient ratio (non-negotiable).
• Charge nurse experience is required; candidates unwilling to work charge shifts will not be considered.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
• Facility size: 25 beds (critical access hospital)
• Overtime worked at regular rate (no multiplier)
• No call, call-back, or charge pay applicable beyond the charge nurse requirement

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2+ years current experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing (higher years of experience not indicated, so 2+ years applies)
• Charge nurse experience is required
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience is strongly required
• Drip medication experience is required
• ICU experience is strongly preferred
• Must be willing to float to any inpatient unit within scope of practice
• Minimum 3 months previous travel nursing experience is required (non-negotiable)
• Small critical access facility experience is preferred

Licenses & Certifications

• Vermont RN License or Compact License (must be current and uploaded)
• American Heart Association BLS (current)
• American Heart Association ACLS (current)

• Required documentation includes:

  • Work history
  • Skills checklists for PCU, Medical-Surgical, and Telemetry (current within 1 year)
  • One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years

• 25-bed critical access hospital
• Offers 24-hour emergency care, general surgery, hospitalist program, inpatient and outpatient services
• Specialty clinics include cardiology, medical oncology, infusion services, ENT, orthopaedics, cosmetic & reconstructive surgery, urology, psychiatry
• Collaborative specialty services with regional medical centers
• Inpatient psychiatric services available at a nearby 10-bed facility

Note: This position requires a nurse who is adaptable, experienced in charge roles, and comfortable working in a small critical access hospital setting with a variety of inpatient units. Prior travel nursing experience is mandatory.
