Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lubbock, Texas

Job Details

- Floating: Yes, will float between units

- Dress Code:
- Licensed nursing personnel (RN, LVN): solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs (no print tops except in Children’s Hospital and Women’s Services units)
- Unlicensed personnel: solid hunter green uniforms or scrubs (no print tops except noted areas)
- Parking: Free in unrestricted employee/visitor lots
Experience Requirements
- Years of Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year (Step Down RN)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- Other Certifications:
- Chemotherapy (if applicable)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) (if applicable)
- IV Certification (LVN/LPN/Other) (if applicable)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (every 2 years if applicable)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) (if applicable)
- State License and NURSYS Verification required for all RNs
Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Competency Exams as required by specialty
- Color Blind Testing (if required by unit)
- Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment or EFM certification for L&D RNs
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit Mask test (N95 or equivalent) required for travel nurses, updated annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer or declination
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer or declination
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respiratory Safety Clearance (RespSafety) for respirator use, annually
Background & Compliance
- Background Check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education Verification required for nursing degree
- Employment Application covering last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
- Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in specialty (6 months for CNA)
- Skills Checklist updated annually (if applicable)
- State-specific background checks and registry searches as required (e.g., Washington state requirements)
Facility & System Requirements
- May be required to complete facility-specific float policy acknowledgment
- Passport-style badge photo required
- Completion of mandatory WorkRamp training modules prior to start, including:
- Annual Regulatory Requirements
- Specialty-specific modules (ER, L&D, Leadership roles)
- Regional Core and Specialty modules as applicable
- Epic training modules required for some regions and specialties
- System TB Questionnaire to be completed prior to start and updated annually
Additional Notes
- Candidate may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
- 48-hour shifts are approved for this assignment
- Free parking available for employees
- Dress code strictly enforced according to unit and role
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of step-down or similar acute care experience, who is comfortable floating between units and working every other weekend.
