Job Summary

A Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room is responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff and applies evidence-based practice within a Practice Governance framework. Responsibilities include assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans, focusing on patient comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN also mentors and precepts staff members.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
• Develop, prioritize, and implement plans of care; collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
• Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
• Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; serve as mentor/preceptor.
• Promote teamwork and communicate opportunities for improvement.
• Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives and comply with regulatory standards.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience.
