Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Neuro ICU) - Travel/Contract
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Unit: Neuro ICU (3G)
- Shift: Primarily day shifts; up to 2 weeks of night shifts possible within a 6-week schedule
- Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, day/night rotation
- Float Requirement: Must float within units of equivalent or lower acuity or other ICUs/IMC
- No on-call requirements (rotating A/P, D/E, D/N unless night shift specified)
- Flu vaccine required for all employees
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (will consider new travelers)
- Skills Required:
- Conscious Sedation
- Intracranial Pressure (ICP) monitoring
- Ventilator management
- Skills Preferred:
- Level 1 trauma experience
- Pulmonary Artery Lines
- IV starts and phlebotomy
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Pending DC nursing license accepted at time of submission; DC license must be in hand prior to start date
- Preferred: CCRN certification
Testing & Competencies
- Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
- Minimum overall score of 80%
- 100% score on lethal rhythms section
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score 80% or higher) required within 3 years of start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required annually for ICU specialties
Health & Safety Requirements
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete on-site if needed)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Required vaccinations or documented immunity for:
- Flu (seasonal vaccine or approved exemption required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), includes multiple substances; must be updated annually
Background & Documentation
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification of highest degree required by position
- Employment history verification: minimum 2 years experience in past 7 years, including at least 1 prior travel assignment for travel contracts
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- I9 and E-Verify attestation required upon hire
- Photo for badge with specific requirements (clear, centered, no shadows, solid background)
Additional Notes
- Special equipment used in unit includes: EVD, Raumedic Bolt, Artic Sun, CVVH, Lytic catheter, Flo-tracker, and occasionally PA catheter
- Scrub color: ceil blue (not provided)
- Must complete facility-specific modules prior to start date
- Must provide proof of pending DC license status at time of submission
