Travel Nurse Opportunity: MedSurg RN

Location: Colebrook, New Hampshire

Job Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend (may be more frequent as needed)
• Holidays: Rotate with permanent staff
• Orientation: 1 shift with a preceptor
• Float: Yes, within facility depending on position and qualifications

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS preferred but not required

Experience Requirements

• Years of Specialty Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum experience typical for MedSurg RN roles (recommend at least 1-2 years)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Patient Population & Care Details

• Types of patients: CHF, COPD, pneumonia, cardiac arrhythmias, sepsis
• Most surgical patients are transferred out; surgeon available 2 days per week
• Low-level ICU care: may manage drips including pressors until transfer
• No ventilator management on the unit (BIPAP and treatments done by nurses)
• Nurses must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips (no tech support)
• Strong IV skills preferred; no IV team, but provider places PICC lines during the day

Staffing & Support

• Charge RN available depending on census (typically does not take patients)
• Nurses aides present each shift
• ER nurse available as a resource
• Hospitalist on call 7 days a week, ER staffed 24/7
• Respiratory therapist not in-house on the unit
• Pharmacist available until 3 PM; telepharmacy on call after hours
• Nurses may be required to mix medications after hours

Work Environment

• 12-bed unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 to 1:6
• EMR system: CPSI
• Team-oriented, friendly environment
• Flexibility and strong teamwork required
• Dress code: Any professional and appropriate color scrubs accepted

Summary

This is a travel assignment for a MedSurg RN with telemetry experience in a small, friendly hospital in Northern New Hampshire. The role requires flexibility, strong teamwork, and the ability to manage telemetry patients including titrating drips and interpreting cardiac strips without tech support. Prior travel experience is not required.
