Position Details

Experience & Certification Requirements

• Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years Med Surg nursing experience
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers welcome)
• Certifications:

  • BLS required
  • ACLS preferred

Shift & Scheduling

• Shift: 3:00 AM – 3:00 PM, every other weekend
• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts (start times 3 AM or 3 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Yes
• Self-Scheduling: Not allowed
• Block Scheduling: Possible upon request
• Call/Standby: No
• Floating: No

Patient Population & Care

• Common Diagnoses:

  • Adult post-surgical (Orthopedic)
  • General medical (cardiac, pulmonary, renal, GI, urology)
• Nurse Responsibilities:

  • Occasional titration of drips (Heparin, insulin, IVF, electrolytes, diltiazem, antibiotics, occasional dopamine, TPN)
• Support Staff:

  • No monitor techs; Mindray monitoring system used
  • Nurse aides present (2 during days, 1.5 during PM shifts)
  • Respiratory therapists assist with vents as needed

Orientation & Dress Code

• Orientation: Unit/department specific, tailored to individual
• Scrubs: Charcoal/pewter gray scrubs, any style (provided)

• The area offers outdoor activities including cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails
