Job Opportunity: Obstetrics (L&D/PP/MB) Nurse

Location: Macomb, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Description

• OB Unit with:

  • 3 Labor & Delivery rooms
  • 1 OB-specific OR
  • 4 triage beds (including LDRs)
  • 7 postpartum beds
• Approximately 300 births per year
• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines

Required Skills & Certifications

• Experience in labor, newborn nursery, and postpartum care
• Certifications: NRP, BLS
• Must be able to titrate magnesium sulfate and Pitocin

Common Diagnoses Encountered

• Preeclampsia
• Gestational Hypertension
• Gestational Diabetes
• Fetal Growth Restriction
• Large for Gestational Age

Staff & Support

• Charge Nurse and House Supervisor available
• New graduates may serve as techs temporarily
• No 24/7 in-house OB/Neonatologist coverage

Technology & Equipment

• RNs read fetal strips via Cerner (EFM system)
• Respiratory support available: vents, CPAP, BiPAP

Shifts & Requirements

• 12-hour shifts (7 AM - 7 PM), flexible schedule
• 2 weekends per month required
• Holiday shifts required
• No on-call duties for travelers
• Floating to assist other departments as needed

Dress Code

• Scrubs provided (black shoes, black pants, purple scrub top)

Orientation

• Unit-specific onboarding provided
• Scheduling flexibility available
