Job Description

Pre/Post Area Responsibilities

• Assess and reassess young adult, adult, and elderly patients using the nursing process
• Competency in specialized procedures and equipment including:

  • Cardiac Monitoring
  • Care and recovery of patients pre/post interventional cardiac procedures
  • Care of patients with vascular closure devices (application, maintenance, removal)
  • Maintain and pull arterial and/or venous sheaths
  • Use of ACT machine
  • Use of Angioseal/Vasoseal devices
  • Minimal and moderate sedation administration with safety guidelines
  • Assist with transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) and perform “Bubble” method as required
  • Pain management and follow-up pain reassessment
  • Blood draws following proper order-of-draw
  • IV therapy and IV ADD
  • Infusion of blood and blood products
  • Information management
  • Synchronized cardioversion
  • Care for ICDs and pacemakers (temporary and permanent) pre/post care and recovery

Procedural Area Responsibilities

• Assess and reassess patients applying the nursing process
• Competency in specialized procedures and equipment including:

  • Care and recovery of patients pre/post interventional cardiac, electrophysiology, and interventional radiology procedures
  • Care of patients with vascular closure devices (application, maintenance, removal, post care)
  • Assist with vascular procedures such as IVC filters, run-offs, acute and chronic occlusions
  • Maintain and pull arterial and/or venous sheaths
  • Use of ACT machine
  • Assist with peripheral balloons and stents
  • Assist with thermodilution and invasive monitoring
  • Assist with IVUS procedures
  • Assist with interventional radiology (IR) procedures
  • Assist with FFR (Fraction Flow Reserve) procedures
  • Assist with electrophysiology (EP) procedures, RF ablations, cryoablations
  • Assist with insertion, maintenance, and troubleshooting of intra-aortic balloon pump
  • Assist with loop recorder insertion
  • Assist with ICDs and pacemakers (temporary and permanent)
  • Assist with Spectranetics laser
  • Synchronized cardioversion/defibrillation
  • Monitor for and manage anaphylactic reactions, including use of anaphylactic kit
  • MAC Lab system monitoring
