Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech
Location: Salem, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform Nuclear Medicine Procedures in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Shift: 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (4x10 schedule)
- Shift times: 0630-1700 or 0815-1845, rotating weekday position (no block scheduling)
- On-call required after department closes until it opens (approximately 7 on-call days per month; on-call shifts are generally not busy)
- Operate state-of-the-art Nuclear Medicine gamma cameras, probes, computer systems, film processors, survey meters, and other technical devices
Requirements
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred
- Must be registered in Nuclear Medicine with either:
- Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB), or
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 6 months of hire
- Pending Nuclear Medicine license with the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) allowed
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 90 days of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire
- Must pass a Basic Cardiac Monitoring class within 4 months of hire (class offered onsite)
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to operate Nuclear Medicine equipment and related technical devices
- Capable of taking call/standby after hours
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid driver’s license or state ID/passport
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start (7-year search)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and ongoing every 30 days
- Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Drug testing (10-panel) within 90 days of start
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tdap vaccine or declination
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) antibody titers or vaccines
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
- Varicella antibody titer or vaccines
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (year-round requirement)
- Fit mask testing onsite within first week of start (if applicable)
Additional Information
- References: 2 references within last 2 years showing 1 year in comparable specialty; at least one supervisory reference within last 12 months
- Telemetry skills required for all RNs regardless of unit (if applicable)
This position is ideal for Nuclear Medicine Technologists with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable with rotating weekday shifts and on-call duties. Certification and licensure requirements must be met within specified timeframes after hire.
