Job Description

• Shift: 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM
• Role: Cath Lab RN
• Required Skills & Experience:

  • EPIC experience required
  • KY or compact nursing license required
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Administration and monitoring of procedural sedation
  • Circulate procedures in Cath Lab
  • Diagnostic right and left heart catheterization
  • Interventional catheterization
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
  • Scrub experience preferred
  • Computerized documentation skills
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Cath Lab

Certifications & Licenses Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• State nursing license verification (KY or compact)
• NURSYS verification for RNs
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• Education verification matching specialty (transcript or diploma acceptable if verification unavailable)
• State-specific abuse registry check (KY) if applicable

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards)
• Fit mask test annually (waivers available for medical/religious reasons)
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination acceptable for non-clinical)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• Baseline TB risk assessment within 90 days of start, updated annually
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required; declinations not accepted
• Hepatitis B surface antibody titer, series, or declination required
• Varicella - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required; declinations not accepted
• Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

Additional Requirements

• 2 professional references required (1 for non-clinical)
• Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually (not required for non-clinical)
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and color blindness testing required prior to start
• Pass/fail EKG test required for certain units (MS, ICU, ED) during orientation
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required depending on specialty/unit

Summary

This is a travel contract position for a Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of Cath Lab experience. The role requires strong procedural skills in cardiac catheterization and dysrhythmia management, along with EPIC system experience. Candidates must hold a KY or compact nursing license and current ACLS/BLS certifications. Comprehensive background checks, health screenings, and immunizations are mandatory.
