Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7pm-7am), weekdays, minimum every other week, including holidays

• Option to flex to 4x12 shifts if needed (overtime billed after 48 hours)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required
• 3 years preferred
• Prior travel experience required

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certified
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA certified

Preferred:

• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card (travelers can obtain CPI if staying longer than 3 months)

Additional Preferences

• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
• Locals are eligible to apply

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Must include education verification of highest degree/diploma
• No pending criminal charges allowed
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals

Licensure & Verification

• Primary source verification of state nursing license required
• NURSYS verification required for all RNs within 30 days of start

Health & Immunization

• Physical exam within 1 year, attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1) or approved exemption
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable)

Competency & Skills

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required (must score >80%)
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units

Facility Specific

• Bring hard copies of all health documents on first day
• Agency job description required

Summary

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in the Emergency Room with a 13-week contract. The role requires night shifts with flexibility for overtime. Candidates must have at least 2 years of RN experience (3 preferred), prior travel experience, and current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, and immunizations is mandatory. Experience with Meditech EMR is preferred.
