Registered Nurse (RN) - MS/Tele Unit

Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule & Work Details

• Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed
• Floating: Required to float within skillset
• RN candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted (locals accepted for LPNs)
• Accepts first-time travelers

Licenses & Certifications Required

• Active New York Single State RN license (NY is not Compact)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as required by unit
• Other certifications as required by unit: PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification
• State License Verification and NURSYS Verification required within 30 days of start

Clinical Skills Required

• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response (dysrhythmia interpretation/management, Rapid Response/Code team activation)
• IV therapy/phlebotomy (peripheral line care/management)
• Oxygen administration (nasal cannula, tanks), non-invasive airway management
• Isolation precautions

Unit Details

• Patient Ratios: 1:5 to 1:7
• Must have worked in acute care within the past 6 months
• MS/Tele Unit assignment given at time of offer
• Scrub color: Navy blue and white combinations

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated, but must have recent acute care experience within 6 months
• Prior travel experience: Not required (accepts first-time travelers)

Charting & Systems

• EPIC experience required

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Government issued photo ID required
• 7-year criminal background check within 3 months of start (including felony checks)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and run monthly
• Education verification from primary source required
• Foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

• Must submit scheduling requests upon submission
• Call-off policy: Up to three shifts may be canceled by client during contract without charge
• References: 2 references within 3 years required for Aya candidates only
• Employment application and work history verification required
• Skills checklist required annually
• State-specific documents and checks as applicable for New York (e.g., Sex Offender Registry, Medicaid Exclusion List)

This position is ideal for RNs with acute care experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a telemetry/medical-surgical setting and have EPIC charting experience. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
