Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Float RN position covering Medical-Surgical (MS), Intermediate Care (IMC), and Emergency Department (ED) Boarder units as needed.
- Schedule options: 3x12 or 4x12 shifts (0700-1930).
- Float required to MS, MS/Tele, IMC, and ED Boarder units.
- Every 3rd weekend required.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required (highest stated requirement).
- Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract).
- Experience in MS/Telemetry and Cardiac Telemetry required.
- ER holding experience required.
- Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
- Minimum overall score of 80%
- 100% score on lethal rhythms section
- ACLS & BLS certifications required.
- CPI & NIHSS certifications preferred.
Certifications & Licenses
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- State nursing license required prior to start
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification)
Competency Requirements
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (Relias Dysrhythmia Basics A) must be current within 1 year and meet scoring requirements.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 3 years, passing score 80% or higher.
- Color Blind Testing (online or in-person) required.
- General competency exam required within 3 years, passing score 80% or higher.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Negative TB test (IGRA or PPD) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray if history of positive TB.
- Required immunizations or titers:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually for extensions/returning candidates.
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept-Mar).
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed).
Background & Documentation
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
- Education verification for highest degree required by position.
- Employment history verification: minimum 2 years of experience in past 7 years, preferably most recent 2 years.
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within last 3 years.
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information.
- Required attestations and facility-specific documents must be completed prior to start.
Additional Notes
- Locals within 60 miles may be accepted at a lower rate (not relevant for pay details here).
- Candidate must complete facility-specific modules prior to start.
- Photo for badge required with specific guidelines (clear, centered, no glare, solid background).
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required annually.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with strong telemetry and ER holding skills who are comfortable floating across multiple units and have prior travel nursing experience.
