Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Technologist (Gynecological and Obstetric Ultrasound)
Position Details
- Employment Type: Contractor
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, varying shifts between 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Job Description
- Perform gynecological and obstetric ultrasounds under the direction of OB/GYN providers.
- Communicate diagnostic examination results to interpreting physicians.
- Operate ultrasound equipment competently to perform procedures/studies.
- Differentiate accurately between normal and pathologic findings.
- Review patient medical records for clinical information, including history, lab results, and physician orders.
- Position patients and select appropriate transducers and technical factors for accurate imaging.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.
- Use cognitive sonographic skills to adapt procedures based on anatomical and diagnostic information.
- Accurately label images with patient identifiers and scan location.
- Maintain records according to regulatory standards and document billing codes.
- Identify equipment performance issues and communicate with staff.
- Analyze sonograms and synthesize information to communicate findings to physicians.
- Provide age-appropriate care based on knowledge of growth and development principles.
Licensure and Certification Requirements
- Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen (ARDMS) to be obtained within 3 months unless waived.
- Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN (ARDMS) to be obtained within 3 months unless waived.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Competency in all gynecological and obstetric sonographic procedures routinely performed.
- Ability to use independent judgment to differentiate normal vs. pathologic findings.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient and caregiver interaction.
- Adherence to department and organizational policies and protocols.
- Ability to prioritize, work independently, and manage multiple assignments.
- Flexibility in schedule and adaptability to change.
