Nursing Contract Opportunity
Location: State College, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Responsible for overall nursing practice on the unit during assigned shifts.
- In absence of Unit Manager, accountable to Nursing Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Nursing House Supervisor.
- Provides professional nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment: Collect and prioritize patient health data using appropriate techniques; involve patients, families, and healthcare providers as needed.
- Diagnosis & Planning: Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses; develop individualized, measurable, and realistic patient outcomes and plans of care.
- Care Implementation: Execute nursing interventions consistent with the plan of care; ensure safety and appropriateness; assist patients and families in coping with illness.
- Evaluation: Continuously evaluate patient progress and effectiveness of interventions; revise care plans as necessary.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality of care activities, data collection, policy development, and interdisciplinary teams to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.
- Professional Development: Engage in performance appraisals, peer review, ongoing education, and maintain clinical competency including Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (HCP BLS) certification.
- Ethical Practice: Adhere to nursing codes of ethics, maintain patient confidentiality, advocate for patients, and provide culturally sensitive care.
- Collaboration: Communicate and consult with patients, families, and healthcare providers; facilitate referrals and continuity of care.
- Research Utilization: Apply research findings to nursing practice and participate in research activities as appropriate.
- Safety & Cost Considerations: Evaluate safety, effectiveness, and cost factors in care delivery; delegate care appropriately; promote a hazard-free environment.
- Leadership: Prioritize and delegate patient care activities; demonstrate flexibility; assume additional duties as assigned.
- Transport: Participate in out-of-facility patient transport using the nursing process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EPIC patient charting system preferred.
- Must maintain current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (HCP BLS) certification.
