Job Opportunity: Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Telemetry (Nights)

Location: Glens Falls, New York
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

Seeking a Registered Nurse with strong experience in Med Surg/Telemetry, primarily caring for adult to geriatric patients in a tele/cardiac unit. The unit has 16 beds with an RN-to-patient ratio of 4:1. This role requires comfort and proficiency in interpreting, measuring, and documenting cardiac rhythms twice per shift.


Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years in Cardiac/Telemetry or Med-Tele units (highest required)
  • Epic Experience: Must have prior experience with Epic electronic health records system (REQUIRED)
  • Cardiac/Telemetry Skills: Strong proficiency required; must be able to interpret cardiac rhythms 2x per shift
  • Neuro/Stroke Experience: Highly preferred
  • Prior Travel Experience: Highly preferred but not required
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Current New York RN License (must include NY Temporary Health Care Service Agency License/Registration Certificate)
    • ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Compliance:
    • Must pass a 14-panel drug screen within 24 hours of offer acceptance
    • Must complete onboarding training from Welle (Verbal De-escalation) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
  • Vehicle: Candidate must have their own reliable vehicle (REQUIRED)
  • Professionalism: Must be reliable with no attendance or call-out concerns; very patient-oriented
  • Profile Documentation:
    • Work history and skills checklist current within 1 year
    • One supervisory signed reference from the past 2 years
    • Permanent address matching driver’s license/state ID (certain NY counties excluded)

Unit Details

  • Patient Population: Adult to Geriatric
  • Unit Type: Remote Telemetry Unit
  • Bed Count: 16
  • RN-to-Patient Ratio: 4:1
  • Dress Code: Personal scrubs of any color (no designs, cartoons, or hoodies)
  • Orientation: 8 hours (non-billable)
  • Scheduling: No block scheduling; requested time off must be submitted and approved before assignment start (max 5 days)
  • Cancellation Policy: Facility may cancel up to 5 shifts during the 13-week contract with 2 hours’ notice

Additional Notes

  • COVID vaccinations are encouraged but not required
  • Must review and meet all medical and vaccination compliance requirements before submission
  • Prior experience at this facility or Albany Med should be disclosed
  • This is a night shift position
