Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Overland Park, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Patient Ratio: 1:6 (all shifts)

  • Preferred Certifications: CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) preferred

  • Oxygen delivery via Nasal Cannula and face masks

  • Isolation Precautions
  • Wound Care/Wound Vac management

Work Schedule and Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 weekend shifts per 6 weeks required
  • Holiday shifts required if holiday falls on scheduled days
  • Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required within scope
  • Locals not accepted (home address must be at least 75 miles from facility)
  • No pending state license accepted
  • Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 7 days
  • Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks (cancelled shifts must be regular shift length)
  • Block scheduling not accommodated

Facility and Documentation Requirements

  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Scrub Color: Navy blue for RNs

Compliance and Background Checks

  • Government-issued ID required
  • Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required
  • Fingerprinting required for certain Illinois long-term care or rehab assignments
  • State-specific background checks and registries as applicable
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include comprehensive panel and be current throughout assignment
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
  • Immunizations and titers required or declination forms for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • TB testing (2 negative PPDs or equivalent)
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B declination required (not vaccination)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
  • Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgements required prior to start, including HIPAA, confidentiality, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies
  • Mandatory completion of orientation and regulatory compliance education modules prior to start

Competency Exams and Skills Checklists

  • Unit-specific competency exams required and must be updated annually
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 12 months for specified units
  • Skills checklist required within 1 year of start, including oncology skills if applicable

References and History

  • Two professional references required (supervisors within last year preferred)
  • Employment application required
  • Performance evaluations may be requested but not mandatory for clearance
