• 225-bed specialty care hospital
• Services include Heart & Vascular Institute, Cancer Center, Brain & Spine, Rehab, Behavioral Health, Digestive Health, Bariatric Medicine & Weight Management, Women's Health, Pediatrics
• Trauma Level: 2
• Unit: Acute Medical/Surgical (6th Floor)
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric (ages 18 - 125)
• Patient Ratios: 5:1 to 6:1
• Equipment: Telemetry monitors, Baxter IV pumps, Kangaroo pump, Bladder scanner, Dynamaps
• Electronic Health Record (EHR): Cerner

Position Details

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Specialty: Medical/Surgical
• Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Weekend Hours: Rotating
• Float Requirements: Occasional, preferably within the unit
• Required Certifications: ACLS
• Required Education: Bachelor’s degree
• Required Years of Experience: 2+ years in Medical/Surgical nursing
• Prior travel experience: Not specified (assumed not required)

Candidate Requirements & Preferences

• Must be located 60 miles or greater from the facility to be considered
• Must have critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
• Preferred experience on a medical/surgical unit
• Dress Code: Scrubs in Galaxy Blue or Navy
• Grooming: Fingernails must be clean, not excessive in length, and comply with Hand Hygiene Policy
• Tattoos that may be offensive must be covered
• Excessive jewelry is not allowed

Additional Notes

• Patient care involves working with telemetry and various IV pumps
• The role requires adaptability and occasional floating to similar units
• The hospital is located in the central region of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the largest community in the peninsula and home to Northern Michigan University
