Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (Contract)

Job Details

• Specialty: Respiratory Therapy

Patient Population & Care

• Acute cases: RSV, Entero-Rhino viruses (high flow oxygen, suctioning), Flu, intubated patients in ICU (medical or post-surgical)
• Chronic cases: Asthma, Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)
• Patient ratio: 1:1

Required Certifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• RRT-NPS (preferred)

Required Skills & Experience

• Registered respiratory care practitioner
• Experience with pediatric patients
• Experience with invasive and non-invasive ventilation, including:

  • Servo ventilator
  • Inhaled nitric oxide (iNO)
  • Airway clearance techniques
  • Aerosol delivery
  • High flow devices
• Years of experience required: Minimum 1 year in respiratory therapy
• Prior travel experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)

Work Environment & Support

• Unit support: Charge therapist often takes a patient assignment
• Floating assignments include NICU, PICU, general pediatric floors, and Pediatric ER (rotational)
• Charting systems used: EPIC, Pyxis, Alaris

Orientation & Scheduling

• Orientation: 1 shift to learn unit flow
• Weekend rotation: Every other weekend
• On-call: No
• Holiday expectations: 1 summer holiday, 1 winter holiday
• Time off: Requires manager approval
