• Facility: Rural hospital with a 6-bed Emergency Room (ER)

Position Details

• Specialty: Emergency Room (ER)
• Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Shift: Night shifts (7pm - 7am) on Friday, Saturday, Sunday
• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts (7am - 7pm also mentioned for weekend staffing)
• Scheduling: No self-scheduling; must be flexible; block scheduling allowed
• Weekend Requirement: Variable depending on need
• Holiday Requirement: Rotated with permanent staff
• Call Shifts: Usually not required
• Floating: Rare, only in emergent situations

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required (highest stated requirement)

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Preferred: TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Work Environment & Staffing

• ER Size: 6 beds, 4 trauma rooms (5 beds)
• Average Patients per Day: 9 to 10
• Staffing Ratios: 1 RN, 2 EMS, 1 Provider at all times; weekends 9am-9pm staffed with 2 RNs
• EMR System: Cerner
• Respiratory Therapy: RT staffed during day shift; afterhours RNs and EMS perform treatments
• Phlebotomy: Phlebotomists available during day; EMS assists with labs afterhours

Additional Requirements & Notes

• Must be able to read tele strips
• Must be comfortable working in a rural hospital setting
• Must be confident and resourceful in skills
• Dress Code: Any scrub color allowed; small tattoos okay; no facial piercings; max 3 piercings per ear
