Job Opportunity: MRI Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Berlin, Vermont
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Specialty

  • Position: MRI Tech (also includes roles such as Ray Tech/Radiographer, Ultrasonographer, Mammographer, CT Tech, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapist)
  • Must be CT/XRay trained

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in MRI specialty (highest required years of experience)
  • Teaching facility experience required
  • EPIC experience within the past 2 years required (non-negotiable)
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications

  • ARRT MRI certification required
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications may be required depending on unit/job description (must be AHA certified)
  • Tech Certification verification must be done within 30 days of assignment start

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Teaching hospital environment
  • Facility beds: 100
  • Department staff: 40+ techs; only 3rd shift works alone
  • Floating required: Yes (within radiology, fluoroscopy, OR, off sites)
  • Surgery and fluoroscopy work required
  • Call required: Yes
    • MRI call typically 8am-12pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays
    • One night per week call (10pm-6am) and every 4th or 5th weekend
  • Shift hours: Usually 8-hour shifts, scheduling varies, no block schedules
  • Weekend and holiday work required
  • Average daily exams: 12-14 (6am-10:30pm)
  • Procedure scheduling: MRI procedures spaced about 45 minutes apart
  • Contrast injections required

Equipment

  • MRI: GE Optima 450w wide bore machine
  • Other equipment includes X-ray (Phillips, Toshiba, Canon, TRAD, Carestream), CT units, Ultrasound machines, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography

Dress Code & PPE

  • Scrubs (any color)
  • Closed non-skid shoes
  • Minimal jewelry, groomed hair/beard, no artificial nails
  • Mask wearing required

Documentation & Systems

  • Documentation system: Epic
  • Medication system: Not applicable

Orientation & Training

  • Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays
  • Specialty testing may be required
  • Must complete EPIC and Cornerstone modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours, non-billable)

Additional Requirements

  • Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended (public transportation not accessible)
  • Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires Nov-April
  • Complete and explain any employment gaps over 90 days
  • Full work history including bed count, EMR, facility type required for submission

Compliance & Background Checks

  • Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification as required
  • Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent form required
  • COVID-19 vaccination or declination required, plus COVID questionnaire and testing protocol adherence
  • Flu vaccine or exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • TB testing and questionnaire required annually
  • Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap vaccinations or exemptions required
  • N95 fit test required prior to assignment and annually
  • Drug testing may be required depending on facility location
  • Professional references and work history verification required
