Description

RN - Med Surg Travel Position

Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel

Unit & Facility Information

Unit: 12 Tower
Number of Beds: 36
Patient Ratios: 1:4 / 1:5
Staffing: Secretary every day, PRN techs
Equipment: PD Cyclers, Welch Allyn VS Carts, Hoyer Lift, Broda Chairs, Alaris IV Pumps
Documentation System: Meditech
Scheduling: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week block required
Floating Policy: Will float over core staff
Patient Experience Requirements: Bedside shift report, safety checks every 1-2 hours, focus on communication and responsiveness

Required Certifications & Licenses

BLS (Basic Life Support)
Registered Nurse License

Experience Requirements

Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in Med Surg specialty

Skills & Responsibilities

Perform basic patient assessments and general care
Care and maintenance of wounds, tracheostomy, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, strokes, seizures
Patient population may require dialysis or PCA pumps; only drip medication is Heparin
Post-op procedures on unit include amputations, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, and wound vacs

Unit Policies & Guidelines

HAI prevention: CVC and Foley monitoring with standard precautions
Fall prevention protocols
100% medication scanning, including controlled substances
Attendance per policy

Work Environment

Team-oriented, youthful group with supportive charges and leadership
Candidates treated as core staff with full accountability and recognition
