Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with professional standards and promotes a patient-centered, caring, and healing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as a primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely following policy guidelines.
• Participate in resource management including staffing and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies.
• Engage in Nursing Shared Governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
• Pursue professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Support learning environments for new staff and students.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Experience

• Minimum 5 years of direct nursing experience (this is the highest required value).
• Nursing (RN) experience ranging from 6 months to 3 years.
• Management experience from 0 to 3 years.
• Strong skills in collaboration, communication (verbal & written), judgment/critical thinking, organizational understanding, planning/time management, problem solving, quality, reliability, safety, and risk management.

Preferred Experience

• Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory settings.

Education Requirements

• Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN).

Certifications & Licensure

• Required: Current New York State RN License.
• Required: BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Unit-specific certifications as required.
• Preferred: Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
• Preferred: Relevant skills certifications such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC as required by assigned unit.
