Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Thomasville, Georgia
Assignment Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Job Details

• Unit: Oncology Floor (MedSurg RN Every Other Week schedule)
• Start Date: Approximately 3 weeks from offer
• Shift: Every Other Week (EOW)
• Patient Ratio: 1:6 or 1:7 (experience with higher ratios required)
• Scheduling: Block scheduling considered
• EMR Systems: Cerner & Soarian
• Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs required (not provided)

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical
• Experience: Minimum 1 year recent MedSurg experience (higher years not indicated, so 1 year required)
• Oncology Experience: Highly preferred
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• Skills:

  • Telemetry
  • IV Start
• Prior Travel Experience: Preferred but not required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • Must include SSN Trace, Counties, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3, Nationwide checks
  • Education verification required for all candidates
• Licensure:

  • State license primary source verification required
  • NURSYS verification required for RNs
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 30 days of start (no PPDs accepted)
  • TB questionnaire within 30 days of start
  • Immunizations or positive titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season unless approved medical/religious exemption
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Additional:

  • Fit test completed on site at no cost
  • Photo for badge required within 24 hours of signing (passport-style photo)
  • Facility-specific health and safety training modules must be completed prior to start
  • References: Two recent supervisor/manager level references verified within 12 months
  • Performance evaluations and skills checklists may be required if previously worked with the facility

Important Notes

• Local candidates within 30 miles of the facility will not be considered; local rate applies to candidates 31-50 miles away
• Fingerprinting requirements apply primarily to CNAs; however, candidates must be prepared to comply with state-specific background processes
• Flu vaccination deadline and exemption process are strictly enforced during flu season
• Facility-specific forms and documentation must be completed timely and accurately

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with recent MedSurg experience, preferably with oncology exposure, who is comfortable managing higher patient ratios and working in a travel/contract capacity.
