Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• Position: MedSurg RN, Every Other Week (EOW) schedule on Oncology Floor
• Patient Ratio: 1:6 or 1:7 (experience with higher ratios required)
• Block scheduling considered
• Start date: Approximately 3 weeks from offer
• Possible extension beyond initial 13-week assignment
• Oncology experience highly preferred
• Minimum 1 year recent MedSurg experience required
• Previous travel experience preferred (not required)
• Experience with Telemetry and IV Start required
• EMR systems used: Cerner & Soarian
• Royal Blue scrubs required (not provided)

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC provider/instructor certs acceptable
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on specialty/unit
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) but BLS is mandatory for this role

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
• Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year recent MedSurg experience
• Prior travel experience: Preferred but not mandatory

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
• Proof of I9 or attestation
• Government-issued photo ID (color copy required)
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation
• Residency declaration form if working on a compact license
• Education verification (diploma or transcript accepted)
• NURSYS verification for RN license
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• TB testing: QGold or TSPOT within 30 days of start (no PPDs accepted)
• Immunizations or titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
• Flu vaccine required during flu season unless approved medical/religious exemption
• Fit test for masks completed onsite at no cost
• Two recent supervisor/manager references verified within 12 months
• Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing
• Facility-specific health and safety training modules must be completed prior to start
• Photo for badge required within 24 hours of signing (passport-style, no selfies)

Additional Notes

• Local candidates within 31-50 miles considered; candidates under 30 miles will not be considered for local rate
• Must comply with facility dress code and wear Royal Blue scrubs
• Facility assigns HealthStream modules that must be completed before first day
• Fingerprinting requirements apply primarily to CNAs; RN candidates should confirm any state-specific requirements
• Flu vaccine deadline and exemption process strictly enforced during flu season
