Unit & Patient Population

• Medical, surgical, respiratory patients
• Also includes Behavioral Health, Joint, Emergency Department float requirements

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
• Weekend requirement: 6 shifts per 6-week period
• Call requirement: 2 call shifts per 6-week period
• Float requirement: as needed

Job Summary

• Practice independently in a similar clinical setting
• Provide routine and complex nursing care
• Manage clinical contingencies and long-range care plans
• Delegate and assign tasks to other care providers appropriately

Responsibilities

• Meet applicable nursing competencies (Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders)
• Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor side effects and effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers

Requirements

Education & Licenses

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Current RN license in New Mexico or compact license
• Current BLS certification (AHA only) required
• Current ACLS certification (AHA only) required

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in related nursing specialty required (Medical/Surgical, Respiratory)
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Orientation & Competency

• New hires receive preceptorship and complete organizational and MedSurg-specific competency validations
• Newly licensed RNs may participate in residency or specific orientation programs
• Completion of annual competency verifications required
