Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with professional standards and promotes a patient-centered, caring, and healing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as a primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely with knowledge of pharmacology.
• Participate in resource management including staffing and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies.
• Support Nursing Shared Governance, unit councils, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Experience

• Minimum 5 years of direct nursing experience (this is the highest required value).
• Nursing (RN) experience ranging from 6 months to 3 years also noted.
• Management experience between 0 to 3 years.

Required Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.

Preferred Education

• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN).

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Current New York State RN License.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Unit-specific certifications as required.

Preferred Certifications

• Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
• Relevant skills certifications such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC as required by assigned unit.

• Organizational understanding and planning (time management).
• Problem solving, quality, reliability, safety, and risk management.
• Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory settings preferred.
