Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Summary

Seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse for an evening shift. This is a travel/contract position requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience. The unit accepts first-time travelers with at least 2 years of experience.

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
• Must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract or 1 month of per diem assignment (prior travel experience required).
• Float requirement: Must be able to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.

Licensure & Certifications

• Pending DC nursing license accepted at time of submission.
• Must have DC nursing license in hand prior to start date.
• Required Certification: BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support).
• Preferred Certification: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).

Skills & Special Procedures

• General OR skills.
• Experience with Bariatrics, ENT, Neurology, Orthopedic, and Urology lines.
• Special procedures include:

  1. Total joints
  2. Spine
  3. Craniotomy
  4. Free flaps
  5. Cyto reduction
  6. Bariatric surgery
  7. ENT/OMF (Oral and Maxillofacial)

On-Call & Weekend Requirements

• On-call: 6 calls per 6-week schedule.
• Weekend: 1 weekend shift per 6-week schedule.

Additional Requirements

• Must float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
• Flu vaccine is mandatory for all employees.

Compliance & Documentation

• Criminal background check within 90 days of start.
• E-Verify and other federal/state background checks required.
• Education verification as per position requirements.
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
• Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
• Immunizations and health documentation required:

  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) documentation.
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination.
  • Varicella documentation.
  • Tdap vaccine preferred within 10 years.
• N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed).

Competencies & Exams

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher).
• Color blindness testing (online or in-person).
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam with specific scoring requirements for certain units.
• Other unit-specific certifications may be required (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) depending on assignment.

References & Work History

• Two positive supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment.
• Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps.
• Verification of at least 2 years of employment in the past 7 years.
