Job Opportunity: MRI Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Durham, North Carolina

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 3pm - 3am
• Patient Age Group: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Radiology / Cardiology)
• Certifications Required:

  • ARRT Radiography (R)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Equipment Experience: Must have experience with both GE and Siemens MRI equipment
• Flu Vaccine: Required; no exemptions or declinations accepted
• First-Timer: Yes, first-time travelers are accepted
• Local Candidates: Accepted
• Orientation: Bi-weekly

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Identification: Valid driver’s license or government-issued photo ID
• Employment Eligibility: I9 or attestation, E-Verify required
• Background Checks:

  • Must be completed within 90 days of start
  • Includes SSN trace, county searches, alias searches, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable), education verification
• Education Verification: Must have graduated from an accredited Radiologic Sciences program with an AAS or higher
• Certifications Verification:

  • ARRT certification for MRI Tech (Radiography and Magnetic Resonance noted)
  • BLS certification (AHA only)
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months
  • Immunizations: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Polio vaccine or attestation
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • Flu vaccination for the current flu season (October through March)
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
• Additional Health Documentation: TB questionnaire (updated annually)

Other Requirements

• References: Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months, at least one must be a supervisor
• Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually
• Competency Exam: Unit-specific competency exam required
• Pass/Fail Testing: Basic tech knowledge test at orientation (passing grade 80%)
• Duke Guest Account: Must be set up prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
• CPI Training: Crisis Prevention Institute training provided during orientation (valid for 2 years)

Notes

• Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments at this health system may have some documentation requirements waived or accepted on file.
• Orientation and onboarding include completion of competency checklists and online modules prior to start.
• No exemptions or declinations accepted for required vaccinations.

This position is ideal for MRI Technologists with at least 2 years of experience, certified by ARRT, who are comfortable working night shifts and have experience with GE and Siemens MRI equipment. Prior travel experience is not required.
