Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg (5SE)

Location: Fargo, North Dakota
Unit: 5SE - Medical Surgical (47 beds)
Shift: 12-hour shifts, every other week (EOW) days and every other week (EOH) nights
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:

  • Day shift: 5:1
  • Night shift: 6:1

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years recent Medical Surgical experience in a larger hospital (200+ beds), level 2 or higher trauma center
  • Travel experience required unless candidate has multiple years of experience in a large level 1 trauma center
  • Surgical oncology experience preferred but not required

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active North Dakota or Compact RN License (must specify state)
  • BLS certification (AHA required)

Skills & Competencies

  • Experience with surgical oncology patients preferred
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Ability to collaborate with inter-professional colleagues including physicians
  • Competency in full scope of nursing practice with age and population-specific standards

Job Duties

  • Care for Medical Surgical and Surgical Oncology patients
  • Collaborate with healthcare team to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Utilize equipment such as EMR-Epic, AccuDose, Bladder Scanner, Phillips monitors, and Telemetry

Orientation & Training

  • 1 day lead center training
  • 2 twelve-hour shifts on unit with a preceptor (including 12-hour night shifts every other weekend)

Additional Information

  • Must badge in and out at the facility
  • Scrubs color: Navy Blue
  • Cannot accept travelers living within 60 miles of the facility
  • Local travel rate adjustments apply for those living 60-80 miles away
  • Must disclose if previously worked for the facility; if yes, last end date must be at least 6 months prior to submission
  • Floating required: home unit is 5SE but may float to any med/surg unit on any campus

Prior Travel Experience

  • Prior travel experience is required unless candidate has multiple years of experience in a large level 1 trauma center.
