Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - House Supervisor (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seaside, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse to serve as a House Supervisor. This role involves floating between units and requires flexibility to cover meals and breaks in Medsurg, ICU, and ED. Previous House Supervisor experience is preferred, but candidates with prior Charge Nurse experience willing to work in different hospital areas will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Float between units as needed (Medsurg, ICU, ED, and others)
- Cover meals and breaks for staff in multiple departments
- Adhere to Oregon Law staffing ratios
- Work every other weekend (weekends required)
- No on-call required
- Vehicle required for assignment and potential floating between multiple facilities within the region

Experience Requirements
- Must have Emergency Department (ED) or Critical Care experience
- Previous House Supervisor experience preferred
- If no House Supervisor experience, prior Charge Nurse experience and willingness to float to different units required
Years of Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year (based on job description)
Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Schedule
- Weekends: Every other weekend required
- Block schedules: Not required

Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- Other certifications as applicable per clinical track and unit requirements (e.g., Chemotherapy, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI)
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse license for Oregon
- NURSYS verification required
- Multi-state licensed nurses working with compact licenses must complete Washington State Demographic Attestation if applicable
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator Safety Clearance (RespSafety) for travel candidates, updated annually
- Fit Mask testing required for travel candidates, updated annually
Training and Competency
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Competency Exams as required by specialty/unit
- WorkRamp Modules (online training) required prior to start, including:
- Core regulatory modules
- Specialty-specific modules for ER, L&D, and leadership roles
- Regional and facility-specific modules for Oregon Providence facilities
- Epic training modules required for charting system proficiency
Additional Requirements
- Must have a vehicle for assignment and floating between facilities
- Float Policy Acknowledgement required (may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance)
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
- Employment Application covering at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps or overlaps
Notes
- Floating between multiple Providence facilities in Oregon and nearby locations is common
- Incentives and accommodations may be provided for floating to certain locations (not included here)
- Scrub color is flexible except for OR/L&D where scrubs are provided
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of ED or critical care experience, who is flexible, willing to float between units, and interested in a travel contract role in a critical access hospital setting.
