Job Description
The Ambulatory Device Technician will perform in-person and remote monitoring of cardiac devices including single, dual, and CRT pacing systems, implanted cardiac defibrillators, pacemakers, and implanted loop recorders. The role involves ensuring excellent patient care in collaboration with the Cardiac Device Clinic Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-person and remote cardiac device checks/interrogations
- Analyze new device transmissions and complete remote transmission reports
- Communicate alarm conditions, heart rhythm abnormalities, or device function changes to cardiologists promptly
- Document patient interactions and device reads in Epic
- Provide patient education and schedule follow-up visits (in-person and remote)
- Troubleshoot and reprogram devices from Medtronic, Saint Jude Medical, Boston Scientific, and Biotronik
- Maintain organization of the device clinic and follow-up schedule
- Collaborate with Electrophysiology Clinic Nurses and Managers to track patients, bill appropriately, and streamline clinic processes
Required Experience and Certifications
- Minimum 2 years experience performing remote implanted cardiac device monitoring and technical assistance
- Experience interrogating and programming pacemakers or defibrillators
- CCDS (Cardiac Device Specialist Certification)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
Prior Travel Experience

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Compliance
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider only, traditional AHA certification required
- BLS - AHA provider only, traditional AHA certification required
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA provider only (not required for Cardiac Cath Tech and Cardiac Cath RN)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - AHA/AAP only
- State License verification (primary source within 60 days prior to start)
- CCDS Certification (Cardiac Device Specialist)
- Background checks including education and work history verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, and others as required
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel with methamphetamines listed, within 3 months prior to start
- Physical exam (Aya standard: within 1 year of start)
- Fit mask test within 1 year prior to start (N95 or equivalent)
- Immunizations and health documents including Tdap, TB test or chest x-ray, MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccination or signed declination
- Facility-specific compliance documents and policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
Additional Requirements
- Two (2) manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months required
- Employment application with at least 7 years of work history including city and state for each position
- Skills checklist required within 1 year of start
- Candidates must be fully available for compliance needs up until start date
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (Compass modules) prior to start
