Location: Rochester, New York

Job Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)
- Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Start Date: February 24, 2026
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Locals Accepted: No, must live more than 75 miles away
- First Time Travelers: Accepted
- Charting System: Epic experience required
- Floating: Required
- Patient Ratio: Able to manage 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio for MedSurg
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience Required: No
Required Certifications
- New York RN License: Must have license in hand (no exceptions)
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required (AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required as per unit description (AHA accepted)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification)
Clinical Skills & Responsibilities
Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
IV Therapy/Phlebotomy:
- Peripheral line care and management
Respiratory Care:
- Nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks
- Non-invasive airway management
Professional Skills:
- Isolation precautions

- Type: Tertiary Care Hospital
- Total Staffed Beds: 528
- Scrub Color: Navy and white combinations
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, sex offender registry, education verification, and eligibility to work in the U.S.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and run monthly
- Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
- Education verification from primary source required
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background)
- Various facility-specific attestations and new hire forms
Health & Safety Requirements
Candidates must complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (updated annually)
- Fit mask test within 1 year (Halyard duckbill 1870+1860 Regular or 1860 Small)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire annually in lieu of TB test renewal
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
Additional Requirements
- References: 2 references within 3 years required for Aya candidates
- Employment application and work history verification required
- Skills checklist required annually
- State-specific documents such as NYS Nurse Aide Registry and criminal background fingerprinting may be required depending on unit
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of MedSurg/Telemetry experience, who is comfortable working night shifts, floating, and managing a moderate patient load in a tertiary care setting. Prior travel experience is not required, and first-time travelers are welcome.
