• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:7
• Common Diagnoses/Patient Types:

  • CVA (Stroke)
  • TIA
  • MI (Myocardial Infarction)
  • Hip Fracture
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Exacerbation of Chronic Conditions
  • Debility
  • MVA (Motor Vehicle Accident)
  • TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury)

Required Certifications & Licenses

• BLS Certification
• RN License
• Must have an unexpired driver's license (50 mile radius rule applies)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical (MS) or Rehab nursing experience required
• Prior rehab experience preferred
• Must be comfortable working independently
• Prior travel experience: Not specified / not required

Job Responsibilities & Work Environment

• No RN requirement to titrate drips
• No common titratable or set rate drips on unit
• No telemetry or monitor techs; RNs do not read strips
• Weekly interdisciplinary team conferences required (RN attendance mandatory)
• No charge nurse on shift; 1 nurse and 1 Patient Care Technician (PCT) per shift
• Nurse Aide ratio: 1:7
• Rehab services available: Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech-Language Pathology (SLP)
• Respiratory equipment used: CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow oxygen

Scheduling & Shifts

• RN shifts: 7 AM to 7 PM
• CNA shifts: 6 AM to 6 PM
• No self-scheduling or block scheduling; schedules discussed with staff and adjusted for vacations/holidays
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation may be required, alternating between two groups of holidays every other year

Additional Information

• Call or standby: No on-call; standby only if no census
• Floating: May float to Medical-Surgical, MS-Tele, or Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) if no census on rehab unit
• Dress code:

  • Nurses: Navy blue scrubs
  • PCTs: Ceil blue scrubs
• Orientation:

  • 1 day with educator
  • 1-2 days with preceptor
  • Includes 12-hour night shifts and weekends as scheduled

This position is ideal for experienced inpatient rehab nurses who are comfortable working independently in a small unit setting with a diverse patient population.
