Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 16 weeks (approximately 4 months)

Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Oncology
- Required Experience: Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical (MS) and oncology experience. Hematology-Oncology experience is strongly preferred.
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required.

- Hodgkin's Lymphoma
- Multiple Myeloma

- Myeloproliferative Disorders
- Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
Unit & Special Procedures
- Oncology / Mixed acuity PCU and MS unit
- Autologous Transplants (patient’s own stem cells)
- Syngeneic Transplants (stem cells from identical twin)
- Allogeneic Transplants (stem cells from sibling, parent, or unrelated donor)
- CAR-T Therapy
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred Certifications
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification
- Oncology Certified
Required Skills
- Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) nursing
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response Teams
- Feeding tube care and management
- Blood product administration
- Central line blood draws
- Peripheral line care/management
- PICC line management
- Nasal cannula administration
Compliance & Background Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply).
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring.
- Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, or CASN).
- Transcript/Diploma verification required.
- Pending background check attestation allowed if fingerprint results are pending.
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, opiates, etc.).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended.
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references required; at least one must be from a manager/director or formal leadership role.
- Employment application and skills checklist required.
- Unit-specific competency exams including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required annually with remediation process if failed)
Notes
- Chemo certification is NOT required but preferred.
- Travelers can renew BLS and ACLS certifications at the facility.
- Fingerprinting and background checks are time-sensitive and must be completed prior to or shortly after start date.
- Dress code and hand hygiene policies must be reviewed and signed.
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
- Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually for new contracts.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a specialized oncology setting with complex patient care involving stem cell transplants and CAR-T therapy. Ideal candidates will have strong MS/Telemetry skills, oncology experience, and the ability to manage critical care procedures.
