Travel RN Opportunity – Emergency Department, Asheville, North Carolina
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Asheville, NC
- Employment Type: Travel
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Department: Emergency Department (ED)
- Number of Beds: 101
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 for medical patients; up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
- Staffing: Techs available for cardiac monitoring, triage, and unit clerks on days and nights
- Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; schedule must meet department needs
- Floating Policy: No floating outside the ED; must be flexible to float within all ED sections
- Dress Code: Navy scrubs required
Required Certifications (must be current before start)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – within 90 days of hire
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center
- At least 1 year experience in an Emergency Room (ER) setting
- Previous experience in a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits) preferred
- Previous experience with HCA Healthcare preferred
- Teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
- Flexibility to work in all areas of the ED
