Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Requirements

• Licensure: Must have a valid New York RN license in hand (no exceptions).
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Previous Charge Experience: Required.
• Patient Ratio: Experience with 1:6 patient ratio required; must be able to handle 1:5 to 1:7 ratio on MedSurg unit.
• Float: Required.
• Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend (EOW).
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required.

Unit & Patient Population

• Complex care unit for Medicine, orthopedic overflow, and complex long-term patients.
• Patient diagnoses include ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and complex medical cases.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficient in EPIC electronic health record system.
• Telemetry monitoring and MS/Tele skills.
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams.
• Pacemakers (temporary and permanent).
• Feeding tube care and management.
• Blood product administration.
• Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management.
• Phlebotomy and IV starts.
• Heparin protocols.
• Surgical drains management.
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks.
• Tracheostomy management.
• Isolation precautions.
• Wound care and wound vac management.

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted, as required by unit.
• Other certifications may be required based on unit description (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM).

Facility Highlights

• Tertiary Care Hospital with 528 staffed beds.
• Charting system: Epic.
• Scrub color: Navy on bottom, navy or white on top.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID).
• Background checks including 7-year criminal background, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG.
• Education verification and transcript/diploma as applicable.
• Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
• Health documents including:

  • Physical exam (within 1 year).
  • Fit mask test (annual).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year).
  • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start.
  • Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season.
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year.
• References and employment verification as required.
• State-specific documents including NYS Nurse Aide Registry (if applicable), criminal background fingerprinting for certain units, sex offender registry check, and Medicaid exclusion list check.

Additional Notes

• Locals are not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility.
• Candidates must be able to complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract.
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and competency exams as required by profession/specialty.

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with strong telemetry and med-surg skills, comfortable managing complex patients and multiple lines, and who hold a current NY RN license.
