Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Case Manager) - Charlottesville, Virginia
Position Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 5 days per week (8-hour shifts), 2-3 weekends during contract, every other holiday
- Work Setting: Acute care hospital inpatient case management
Experience Requirements
- Must have acute care hospital inpatient case management experience
- Must have either prior travel experience or EPIC system experience
- Prior travel experience: Required (explicitly stated as "either travel or EPIC experience")
Licensure
- Can submit application with Virginia license pending
Work Hours
- Can approve up to 40 hours of return to office (RTO)
Certifications & Competencies (may be required depending on unit)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – required for all candidates except Case Managers, Histo Techs, and MLTs
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – if applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – if applicable
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy Certification) – if applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – if applicable
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – if applicable
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – required for Behavioral Health nurses
- NIH Stroke Certification – may be required depending on unit
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions and Mother-Baby units; not required for Case Managers
Required Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 30 days of start, updated every 30 days
- HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated every 30 days
- Education verification through a 3rd party vendor (BSN preferred; ASN required if no BSN)
- Transcript/Diploma (official transcript acceptable; photocopy of diploma not acceptable)
- Fingerprinting (Virginia VSP National Criminal Background Check Fingerprint Results) may be required depending on unit
- Abuse Registry Search required only for candidates assigned to specific units (e.g., 5 East)
- State license primary source verification required within 30 days of start for new and extension contracts
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs/LPNs within 30 days of start
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (no declinations or exemptions allowed)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (2-step PPD required; Qgold acceptable; Tspot not acceptable)
- Annual TB questionnaire if past positive
- Rubeola (Measles): 2 vaccines or positive titer required; no declinations/exemptions
- Mumps: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; declination accepted but not clearance-holding
- Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; declination accepted but not clearance-holding
- Hepatitis B: Positive Hep B Surface Antibody titer required; if low/negative, additional antigen titer required; declinations/exemptions not accepted
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or titer required; declination required to meet standards but will not hold clearance
- Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen including marijuana and fentanyl required within 2 months of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no exemptions or declinations accepted)
Additional Requirements
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Completion of skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- Completion of facility-specific documents including professional appearance guidelines, release authorization, TB screening, traveler compliance, and fit testing acknowledgment
- Pass/Fail Cardiac Rhythm Assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions and Mother-Baby units (not required for Case Managers)
- Compliance with facility-specific policies and documentation
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with acute care inpatient case management skills and either prior travel experience or EPIC system knowledge, seeking a 13-week travel contract in Charlottesville, Virginia.
