Respiratory Therapist - Boise, Idaho
Job Details
- Specialty: Respiratory Therapy (Adult, Pediatric, NICU)
- Location: Boise, Idaho
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (travel assignment)
- Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Required to work if scheduled during holidays
- Call Requirement: None
- Floating: May float to Meridian Medical Center and Nampa Medical Center
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Years of Experience:
- RRT preferred with 2-3 years experience minimum
- CRT accepted with 3-5 years experience minimum (higher requirement applies)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers are acceptable)
- Certifications:
- Adults: BLS, ACLS
- Pediatrics: BLS, PALS
- NICU: BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- RRT preferred but CRT accepted with experience
- Special Skills:
- If covering NICU, must know how to perform NAVA (Naturally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist) on Servo vents
- Able to assist with intubation (independent intubation not required)
Patient Population & Work Environment
- Treats adults on all floors, pediatric patients, and NICU
- Pediatric RTs may cover adults; adult RTs do not cover pediatrics
- Inpatient setting
- Typically not the only RT on shift (15-20 RTs on days, 10-12 on nights)
- Hospitalist and Intensivist available 24/7
- Respiratory lead on each shift; manager and supervisor available during the day
Job Duties
- Manage all respiratory therapy equipment, treatments, transport, and arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Does not perform EKGs
- Assist with intubation only
Equipment Used
- Ventilators: Draeger (adults), Servo U (pediatrics)
- V60 BiPAPs, Vapotherm high flow, Optiflow (NICU and PICU)
- Philips Cough Assist, ResMed home CPAP
- HillRom Vest machines for percussion, Hill-Rom Metaneb
Orientation & Scheduling
- Orientation: 2-3 shifts depending on unit coverage (adult floor, pediatrics, NICU, adult ICU if applicable)
- Scheduling done by scheduler; travelers filled in where needed
- Attempts made to accommodate scheduling blocks but not guaranteed
- Overtime may be available
- Dress code: Any clean and professional scrub color
This position is suitable for respiratory therapists with a minimum of 3-5 years experience (if CRT) or 2-3 years (if RRT), comfortable working nights and every other weekend, and willing to float within the local area. Prior travel experience is not required.
