Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry

Location: Boise, Idaho
Unit: Telemetry (3rd Floor & 7th Floor)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced RN for Telemetry units covering both the 3rd and 7th floors. The role requires flexibility to float between these floors and potentially to sister facilities in Meridian and Nampa.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in telemetry nursing.
• Must have post-procedural cardiac experience (cath lab, ablations, open heart surgery).
• Preferred experience in PCU and Stepdown units.
• Ability to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips accurately.
• Prior travel experience is preferred but not required.

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

• 3rd Floor: Cardiac focus including post-op procedural patients, post-op day 1 open heart, TAVRs, ablations, post caths, pacemakers, and medical telemetry.
• 7th Floor: General telemetry including post-procedural overflow, CHF, sepsis, electrolyte imbalances, post-stroke care, and more.

Unit Details

• Beds: 3rd Floor (20 beds), 7th Floor (35 beds)
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Charge Nurse: Present on each unit, typically does not take patient assignments unless necessary. Crisis and resource nurses available in-house.
• Patient Care Techs: 3rd Floor has 3 CNAs, 7th Floor has 5 CNAs; typical CNA ratio is about 1:8 depending on staffing and census.

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

• Must be able to titrate heparin drips; insulin drip experience not required (training provided if needed).
• Common drips include set rate cardiac gtts, amiodarone, cardizem, dopamine, and dobutamine.
• Expected to read and interpret telemetry strips twice per shift.
• Assist respiratory therapists as needed with high respiratory needs (high flow, BiPAP, CPAP), but RTs manage these primarily.
• Floating is expected; travelers are first to float to other medical-surgical or telemetry units within the hospital and sister facilities.

Scheduling & Shifts

• Shift: 7am – 7pm (12-hour shifts)
• Schedule typically made 6 weeks in advance.
• Block scheduling not guaranteed; max 5 shifts in a row.
• Weekend requirement: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Days: Sat/Sun, Nights: Fri/Sat).
• Holiday work may be required but not every holiday.
• No typical call or standby requirements, but floating is common.

Orientation

• 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation (1 shift on 3rd floor, 1 shift on 7th floor).

• Scrub color is flexible; any color scrubs allowed.

This position is ideal for RNs with solid telemetry and post-procedural cardiac experience who are flexible and willing to float between units and facilities.
