Job Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical (with Pediatric experience also needed)
• Contract Length: 12 weeks
• Shift: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
• Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every third holiday
• Floating: No floating required
• Orientation: 2 days floor-specific orientation

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - Required
• PALS, NRP, STABLE - Preferred

Patient Population & Care

• Large geriatric population (70% over 65 years old)
• Common diagnoses: hips, knees, shoulder surgeries; pediatric RSV; pneumonia; sepsis; influenza; wound care; cellulitis; inpatient hospice (travelers will not take hospice patients)
• Patient-centered care with bedside reporting

Staffing & Ratios

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 during the day, 1:5 at night
• Charge Nurse: Team lead on each shift, also takes patients
• Nurse Aides: 1 CNA per shift, except Monday-Friday days with 2 CNAs
• Respiratory Therapist: Available 24/7
• Pharmacy: In-house 7 AM to 5:30 PM, remote after hours
• Hospitalist or Intensivist: In-house coverage

Skills & Equipment

• Must be able to read and interpret nurse's read strips
• Experience with drips such as insulin and Cardizem
• No ventilator patients
• Telemetry monitors (Data Scope) used
